One-Way Traffic Has Been Introduced in Astana
Since June 11, 2016 one-way traffic has been introduced in three streets of the capital to reduce the load on the street and road network.
One-way streets are: Abay Ave. (in the section from Saryarka Ave. to Pushkin Str.), Kenessary Str. (in the section from Pushkin Str. to Saryarka Ave.) and Yanushkevich Str. (in the section from Abay Ave. to Imanov Str.). The total length of one-way traffic within these streets is 9.6 km.
Initially, the traffic police will not be bringing owners of vehicles to administrative responsibility for violation of traffic rules in the specified sections. However, representatives of the Office of Administrative Police and the Local Police Service will be explaining the drivers the traffic rules for one-way streets within ten days to prevent accidents. They will start bringing violators to administrative responsibility since June 20 of this year. The fine will be 5 minimum calculation indices.
It should be recalled that one-way traffic is successfully functioning in the sections of Auezov Str. (from Respublika Ave. to Moldagulova Str.), Zheltoksan Str. (from Moskovskaya Str. to Kenessary Str.) since May 28, 2016. According to preliminary data, the average speed of traffic in these streets has increased by 30%, the delay time at intersections has decreased from 78 to 40 seconds, the traffic volume of vehicles has increased by 20% due to the road network unloading.
